DUDE - GUYS! OMG!

okay, first off i would like to thank mithen for reccing this fic to me - see, i've been recently getting into star trek slash - specifically, the one and only k/s. it's funny, because i used to watch TOS and TNG and Voyager with my dad, but i had just never found k/s as appealing as bruce/clark (my OTP). however, since nut!trek AKA star trek xi came out, i just couldn't ignore the previous pull of the k/s dynamic now that it's full of SO MUCH PRETTY OMG. so without further ado, here's the link to an absolutely wonderful nu!trek k/s story where spock is turned into a kid again and kirk takes care of him and puts him in cute pajamas and watches the princess bride with him!!!! *dies from the sheer amounts of adorability* read it! SOOO GOOOD! http://jade-dragoness.livejournal.com/57612.html it's called As Morning Shows the Day, written by jadedragoness.

also on the nu!trek and TOS front, i found the best song ever for spock. the lyrics are under the cut - check it!

So, I don't know about you guys, but I've been watching the ABC show Castle pretty obsessively since it started.

It's now about 5 episodes into its second season, and it's fucking fantastic.

It's a crime show, but based far more in reality than things like CSI as far as the resources at the disposal of the police in the program, and Nathan Fillion is in it and plays a writer shadowing our lead detective Kate Beckett, played by the lovely Stana Katic.

For those who don't know, Nathan was also in Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog as Captain Hammer, and in Firefly as Captain Malcolm Reynolds.

In the newest episode as Castle, he comes out wearing a cheap version of what he wore on Firefly as Mal and said it was his Halloween costume - dressing as a space cowboy. Oh, and he mentions Buffy a scene later, so lots of Joss references in the latest episode :)

ETA: here's the clip of him as Mal!

He also does a fantastic evil laugh midway through the episode that had me laughing out loud.

Soooo Gooood.

All of you should be watching this show!! You can watch all the episodes from the current season (season 2) on the ABC website and you can get season 1 from iTunes. It's SO worth it, seriously!

That is all.

i don't know how i missed this story when it was originally posted, but oh my god.

prepare yourself if you're going to read it: have tissues handy, and be ready to fuckin' cry. no, seriously. fics don't make me cry, but *this*. i was still sad almost 20 minutes later.

and it was also beautifully written, don't get me wrong...

i just...it's....gah, just go read it.

it's called Ghosts, written by the extremely talented harmless_one, it's PG, and it's Bruce/Clark:

so, things are going alright with school. i really don't like one of my classes, and i want to drop it, but i don't wanna piss my dad off. we'll see what happens with that. otherwise things are going fine.

in other news, it's been cold as balls out here lately, and i realized just how few long sleeved shirts and sweaters i have...i need to go buy some desperately. sigh.

also, i have some songs under the cut that you guys should download, like, yesterday :)

ETA: i tried to upload the songs so you guys could get them, but it totally didn't work. Boo! So you're kind of on your own, but yeah.

OMFG
Before I give any official statement of how I felt seeing this movie, I will warn those of you who haven't seen it. The acting could use a bit of work, but they did peg the characters in look and general demeanor. The script was lifted almost directly from the graphic novel. They took out the fact that Laurie smokes - don't know why, but whatever. And they changed the ending a bit, but I can understand why they did it, even though it made me a bit sad.

However, overall, I think it stayed true enough to the book that people who have read it don't have much to worry about. There was a shit-ton of information to cram into a couple of hours, and I think they did they best job they possibly could as far as including what they needed to to move the story along and explain everything, and leave out little tidbits (as much as I loved them in the book) that weren't necessary.

There were a few jackasses in the theater that laughed at very inappropriate times, and scenes that I felt were, perhaps, a bit awkward, but I think that those were meant to be that way to add some *reality* to the whole thing.

If you are a big Watchmen fan, and you can take the movie for what it is - a MOVIE - then I think you'll enjoy it. I did. If you're going to be overly critical and nit-picky over how so-and-so acting in this scene, or how they left out this-or-that little thing, then don't see it. If I did that with movies, I could have never sat through The Dark Knight (which I loved) because there were parts wholly innacurate to the comics, and there were awkward and strange and some downright silly scenes that made no sense. But I took it as a movie, and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

So, as I said, if you can do that and accept that kind of stuff with Watchmen (because it's bound to happen here and there) then you'll probably love it. I've read some reviews and I think people aren't giving it enough credit. It wasn't the 2nd coming of Jesus - duh. If you put it up on a pedestal you're setting yourself up for disappointment, no matter if it's a movie, a person, a situation, whatever.

With all that said, I'm going to dish out how I actually *felt* about the movie, since I've gotten all the technical review and mostly objective stuff out of the way.

this is the most awesome little video. there's a series of them, all titled "a kiss is just a kiss" plus whatever number it is.

it's just a bunch of clips of guys kissing each other in both mainstream and independent films. :)

Another youtube video I stumbled across. This is the official music video for a song called "Frontier Psychiatrist" by The Avalanches. It's wacky and weird and catchy as hell.

Enjoy the strange-fest :) I love it!

I've been going on a youtube rampage. And I'd like to share my findings in a few posts. Cuz I'm a total dork :)

First off, I found a very rare Regina Spektor song called "The Virgin Queen". There's no music video, but somebody posted what is apparently the only known recording of it on youtube along with the lyrics!

So here it is, lyrics are under the cut.

hey. i didn't get off work til 1:40 in the morning cuz i was on the closing shift.

but i wanted to recommend some songs i've been listening to lately, cuz they're all nice and stuff.

yes, my english is not at its finest - it's 3 in the morning so i hope you'll cut me some slack, haha.

first off, i'm completely hooked on miss regina spektor. i've been a fan for a while, but i recently got the following songs and you should get them too:
- baby jesus (makes me giggle)
- buildings (reminds me of the last year or two of my parents' marraige)
- us (makes me think of bruce and clark)
- the soup
- that time (reminds me of my best friend, shayla)
- ghost of corporate future
- scarecrow and fungus

next, i highly recommend that you watch the music video for Sia's "Soon We'll Be Found". just do it, trust me.

and i found an older song by nine inch nails, "All That Could Have Been" and it is SO Bruce talking about Clark.

also, the band Cars Can Be Blue has two great songs that make me laugh. one, "Dating Batman" and two, "Dirty Song". Give them a listen.

that's all for now. sleepy time.....

The Dark Knight

kissable
Last night I saw The Dark Knight for the first time.

And I just got home from seeing it again, today.

It is 2.5 hours of COMPLETE AND TOTAL AWESOME.

Heath is brilliant.

Christian is hot.

Gary is endearing.

And Aaron is trustworthy and then deliciously scary.

If you haven't seen it yet, do it.

In fact, even if you HAVE seen it, go do it again.

Now.

It's made of THAT MUCH WIN.

Seriously.

*shoos you towards the theater*

PS, The Watchmen trailer was playing before TDK. And it looks fucking rad. Check it:

weeeelly welly well well.

i got a job at blick art supplies starting this friday. i've drawn a few neat things, but the scanner screws up all the colors, so i'll have to wait to post them.

nobody responded to either of my youtube music video posts, but that's cool...i guess :P

i've poked around my potential superhero actors gallery (good lord i need a better name for it) but all i ended up updating was my super-bat kids. well, at least their famous people almost-look-alikes.

i guess if you're really bored you can look at those...it's kinda fun after seeing the drawings, the most recently posted of which are here:
mara hayden kayne 1: http://pics.livejournal.com/batfan_sarah/pic/001qf1k1
mara 2: http://pics.livejournal.com/batfan_sarah/pic/001qephr
van thomas kayne: http://pics.livejournal.com/batfan_sarah/pic/001qg17a
janelle delia kayne 1: http://pics.livejournal.com/batfan_sarah/pic/001qh9ky
janelle 2: http://pics.livejournal.com/batfan_sarah/pic/001qpwk9

the pics i've drawn of them recently are a bit more refined than the above, or so i like to think. and i've really got a story down for all three of them. now if only i could get my butt in gear and *organize it in writing* we'd be set for an epic tale of fluff and adventure and stuff, lol.

so yeah, here are their real-life counterparts in carefully selected photos, cuz i have too much free time:
mara: http://pics.livejournal.com/batfan_sarah/gallery/00032y1d
van: http://pics.livejournal.com/batfan_sarah/gallery/0003382h
jan: http://pics.livejournal.com/batfan_sarah/gallery/00039ph7

otherwise, that's all i've really got to say, i suppose.

for those of you who may have missed my music post about Lykke Li, you should check them out. i recommend the song "I'm good, I'm gone" - fun tune, really interesting artsy music video.

....i love you all :)

So, I made a post recently with a song (I'm Good I'm Gone by Lykke Li) that I liked oodles and bunches.

And I feel the need to share some more! :)

I know a while ago I told everyone to check out Joanna Newsom (definitely an acquired taste) and I just found a song by her I hadn't heard before. As stated, her voice takes some getting used to, but the lyrics are fantastic in everything she does, and so is her harp playing. Though in this particular piece she's singing a capella. It's called Yarn and Glue. Here's the video:

lyrics are below the cut.

And, while I'm at it, I have something for fellow Firefly/Serenity fans! This song is SO a River Tam theme song, it's called We Are Pilots by Shiny Toy Guns:

Yes, I know, it's not a real music video. The lyrics are under the cut after those for Yarn and Glue.

for fans of firefly and serenity, i've been shuffling through some fic, and came across a few references from something called the "R Tam Sessions".

they weren't on the serenity special features and i don't own the series on dvd, so i'd never seen them....so i looked it up.

the R Tam Sessions video is so fucked up. it follows river's decent into madness at the academy.

if anyone wants to watch it, i finally found a copy here:
http://video.aol.com/video-detail/r-tam-files/1587507429?icid=acvsv3

also related to firefly but not nearly so creepy or depressing, are these awesome interviews with mr. nathan fillion, who plays captain mal reynolds.

on the late late show:

and on ellen:
