I'm very annoyed that Was Tun, Wenn's Brennt? has the director's commentary subtitled in Dutch but in no other language. Not even German. I HAVE TRIED TO LEARN DUTCH. IT DIDN'T GO WELL. I AM NOT LEARNING DUTCH FOR YOU, FILM.

I did listen to a little bit and found I could understand some of it! And then I realised I could understand the bits said by the woman with the strong English accent. So I can apparently cope with the words; just not when they're spoken by somebody German. Which implies a certain amount of FAIL.

I am also even more fond of my Leatherman Supertool than I was before, after realising that Tim uses his to build the second bomb.

Hey, could you guys

git clone git://repo.or.cz/hrr.git
cd hrr
./configure
make
make install
hrr

and tell me if you have any problems. Thanks. Mind you configure error messages are way not correct, so if that happens you probably shouldn't think they're correct. Also ffmpeg changed fifo things around a little so if you got a version over SVN-r13839 that may or may not be an issue, I don't know.

... in other news I think the style of this is beautiful.

youtube video

There's so much fear put into us from pop-culture about these things that it's difficult to remove that from peoples' reactions to alien type things. This video is so light and fun even though it portraying very strange things. To approach this without becoming afraid of the dark I think is important. The stars are beautiful and you should not be afraid of them. I think if our approach was one of curiosity for how strange our world is we'd all deal with this a little better. Anyway, I'm rambling... by the way that's budd hopkins doing the regression work there. He's done many many many of these and wonder how he absorbs what he hears. Don't be afraid, that's what I say. good-night

I'm facing a dilemma. What's the etiquette for replying to comments on AOOO going to be? I'm leaning towards LJ-esque but I'm not sure.

What are other people thinking of doing?

The novel thing about Was Tun, Wenn's Brennt? is that it actually has a happy ending for my OT3. They get to live happily ever after! Together! Having lots of sex! And possibly they even all go into business together! With Maik setting up another ad agency and Hotte doing the IT and Tim... being decorative. And probably naked.

Yes, I'm watching it again. And I can understand some of the spoken German without having to look at the subtitles! One day, I may be able to listen to the director's commentary and watch the special features!

In other news, I am become Death, Destroyer of Hot Water Bottles.

In thirty years, I haven't had a single leaking hot water bottle. In the past six months, I've gone through FOUR. It isn't funny any more. I'm COLD and I have no hottie bottles.

Although I am absolutely delighted with my Timex indiglo watch, my costume jewelry (you all know how I love my sparklies!), and my awesome thrift store finds, every so often I do stumble across something that totally enchants me, but is so ridiculously priced that I'm not sure I can imagine buying it even if money was no object. And yet my heart lusts after it for the thing of awesome beauty and art it is. Below is one of those things:

This is a Bulgari piece, introduced back in the 70s. The company is celebrating its 125th anniversary, so they're being written up a lot lately, and I keep seeing this piece. It was, in her hey day, one of Elizabeth Taylor's more famous pieces of jewelry, or so I'm reading. A gift to her from Burton after they finished filming Cleopatra.

Of course, being Bulgari, the stones are all real and the gold highest quality and all that. You're paying for the name and the materials... Bulgari's pieces go for thousands and thousands, even millions and millions (one article showed Nicole Kidman wearing an on loan 4 million dollar necklace from them).

So I'll make myself content to just gaze at pictures. :o) I actually did try googling for knock offs of it, out of curiosity. I figured they'd still be outside my price range, but it might be fun to look. I didn't fink knock offs, but I did find one of Bulgari's more recent takes on the design- it goes for almost $5500.00.

After I was wearing it for a few days I did realize my engagement ring reminds me of Bulgari jewelry. That's kind of funny because I have always loved their beautiful, ornate pieces, but I wasn't at all thinking of them when we designed the ring. Well, not consciously. I suppose Bulgari might lurk somewhere in my subconscious when I'm looking at jewelry.

I'm just that interesting.
